Ursula Rauh, an Ohio native, has become an artist of the world. For the past several years, Ursula has traveled around the world as a professional painter. The strong, spiritual influence of the exotic places she has visited are deeply woven into the fabric of her art.
Artist Philosophy
Ursula reaches deep – touching the Earth goddess hidden within us all. "My personal experience compels me to express the sacred feminine, sensuality and strength of women." Messages of love and spirituality permeate her work. Her goal is to awaken the human consciousness by expressing the beauty of life to all who view her work.
Education and Influences
Ursula studied art at the University of Akron, the University of Cincinnati, San Diego Mesa College and the school of life. For the past several years, Ursula’s career has taken her across the United States, Central America, Europe and Northern Africa.
Ursula also studied Biology and her scientific influences and organic vision are clearly woven into many of her paintings. The Golden Spiral, often associated with ‘sacred geometry’ is a reoccurring image in her work and inspired paintings such as ‘Enter Mercaba’.
Experience
During her world travels, Ursula has done thousands of portraits of people from nearly every nationality. She has painted murals in restaurants, internet cafes, hostels, and community centers.
Since her first job leading a children’s art camp at a local art museum, Ursula has used her gift for working with children in impoverished areas in Central America to teach art to children and adults.
She has illustrated children’s books, created tattoo designs, logo designs and performance art.
Performance Art
Performance art is done live, during live music events. Ursula allows the music to guide her soul and hand as she turns a blank canvas into an energetic, spectacular work of art right before the eyes of the audience. She has worked with jazz bands, individual singers, large shows in a wide range of genres, including blues, emo, jambands, electronic rock and more. She has also painted to the tunes spun by trance and house DJs. “I capture the vibe, feeling and powerful emotions coming from the music. It touches my soul, and I let it flow through me and let it guide my brush.”. Her performance paintings are vivid, bold and move with the rhythm of the music and the energy of the crowds.
